Let Men Know It’s OK to Not Be OK

Source : https://themighty.com/2018/11/men-mental-health-suicide-movember/

We are often raised to believe that men need to “toughen up” and “man up.”

That boys don’t cry.

That “real men” hold in their feelings and never show them to the world.

We teach our children this is what it means to be a man, and they teach their own children in turn, renewing the cycle.

Meanwhile, some men struggle in silence — and the statistics don’t lie.

Four times as many men die by suicide than women, and suicide is the biggest cause of death of men under 35 in the United Kingdom. More than six million men are affected by depression in the United States alone. Yet men are, quite simply, less likely to talk about their struggles than women — and that needs to change.

Depressed Brain 🧠 VS Healthy Brain 🧠

🌻 Sophie’s World 🌎

STOP 🛑 THE STIGMA OF MENTAL ILLNESS.

So … in 2014 after experiencing several loses, I fell into a deep, severe depression episode. I also got suicidal thoughts. I went to a doctor and told him about it, and this is what he told me, “But you don’t look suicidal to me ?! Be positive, be grateful and think happy thoughts. It’s all in your head.”. 😑 🙄

You know what, in a way, there’s truth in it. Depression, anxiety , suicidal thoughts 💭 are all symptoms of a sick brain 🤕 🧠.

And yes, it is true that our brain 🧠 is located inside our head 😊.

I found this PET scan picture, and I want to share it with you guys.

PLEASE DON’T GET DISCOURAGED OR ASHAMED IF YOU HAVE A MENTAL ILLNESS.

MENTAL ILLNESS/BRAIN DISORDERS ARE THE SICKNESS OF THE BRAIN 🧠. AND THE BRAIN IS AN ORGAN IN HUMAN’S BODY, AN JUST LIKE ANY OTHER ORGANS, BRAIN 🧠 CAN GET SICK TOO.

Stop 🛑 the stigma of mental illness.

Thank you ☺️ for joining me on this Page. ❤️- 🌻 Sophie

Here’s to the crazy ones ❤️🌻🤗

Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.
